A Woman of Noble Character
Proverbs 31 was always shoved on us as teenagers to read up on how to be a good wife. For that reason alone, I never really read it. Finding myself as both a wife and mother in my late twenties, I've revisited the passage and have decided to really study it. I'll share my thoughts here and there as I take it on. The excerpt below is in an ESV version, which is usually my preference, however I do like the "She is clothed with strength and dignity and laughs without fear of the future" NIV version a bit better. Either way, it's something I'd like to be able to claim. Anyone else spent some time ruminated on the "Woman of Noble Character"?
"Strength and dignity are her clothing, and she laughs at the time to come. 26She opens her mouth with wisdom, and the teaching of kindness is on her tongue. 27She looks well to the ways of her household and does not eat the bread of idleness. 28Her children rise up and call her blessed; her husband also, and he praises her: 29"Many women have done excellently, but you surpass them all." 30 Charm is deceitful, and beauty is vain, but a woman who fears the LORD is to be praised."
