Whether we are ready or not, a new calendar year has begun. Love it or hate it, it’s the time of the year most full of aspirational quotes, meal plans, gym memberships, bucket lists, and travel bookings leading to imminent burnout by February.
I love a reflection, a restoration, a rededication, and renewal more than the next person and fresh starts are just as much beloved as fresh notebooks to me. In light of the newest year we’ve seen to date, I thought I’d reintroduce myself and what goes on here- and all the good things to expect in the coming months.
Why, “Eat My Words”?
This phrase is scratchy for most- and truth be told, I kind of like it that way. It’s an uncomfortable association, to eat one’s words- and I’m not sure it was meant to be any other way.
Over the last few years of my life, I’ve been learning what it actually means to eat my own words about body image, religion, the construct of marriage, and the responsibility therein, about identity as a woman and my place in society. It’s been hard work. It’s been uncomfortable work. And it’s been valuable work. It’s led me to want a few things for my own readers:
I want you to know how to eat your words when the time comes (and it will come).
I want you to know how to face something you’ve always believed ( about yourself, about the world, about others) and be brave enough to say, “I’m not so sure about that anymore”.
I want you to feel free in a space that doesn’t require you to denounce or deny where you came from but acknowledge the pivotal moment when you’ve started to change your mind.
And while you’re doing that, I want you to be surrounded by things that nourish you- books, music, community, and of course, food are the nourishing elements you’ll find here.
We hold the both/and as sacred in this space: if we must go through the uncomfortable process of eating our words, I believe we should make them as delicious as possible.
There are plenty of posts I will make for free, available for all.
The perks of being a paid subscriber mean the following:

Everyone needs to eat their words to grow.
We might as well make the process delicious.
Happy 2024!
