Let's Do the Time Warp Again
Infants cannot tell time. Therefore, the fact that it is suddenly 11:35 and you haven't yet eaten a thing, taken a decent shower or had 4 hours of sleep strung together means nothing to them. They want to eat when they're hungry. Be changed when they are dirty. Cuddled when they're lonely. My kid's no different. She's a night owl, which could be blamed in equal parts on both of her parents until they got old and married and decided that 10 pm was way too late to eat dinner, no matter how posh it may be. I am master of a schedule, of a list, of a plan, and I have got to say this whole "newborn time" thing has really thrown me for a loop. A good friend came over yesterday morning with his daughter in order to cook us up some traditional Jewish fair in celebration, and it took me a good hour and a half to figure out why Gracie wasn't in school. It was Saturday. I had no idea. I have never in my life not known what day it was. What date it was. When it's National Nutella Day, poetry month, etc. I have lost track on the comings and goings of the outside world. If you saw my kid, I'm willing to bet, you would, too. She's that cute.
Speaking of seeing my kid, now's your chance. My good friend Jill came over yesterday to take Ellie's first glamour shots and they came out lovely. Seriously. I didn't think you could make my kid look any cuter, but she did. Jill's an amazing photographer, I would suggest if you were on the look-out for one, yo snap her up. You're not going to find a more talented, flexible, dedicated and fairly priced professional in the tri-state area. And she's great with kids! Go see Ellie here!
Alright, well. Considering I have no idea what time it actually is, I've decided to choose what time I would like it to be from now on. Right now, I'm feeling 2 pm. 2 pm is always a great time for a nap. Might as well, since it's the first time the girl's asleep since....well, I don't know what time.
